Students in the Property Protection and Security program at the Aksaray University School of Social Sciences Vocational College must successfully complete a 30-workday (at least 240-hour) mandatory internship in order to graduate. The process is conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Aksaray University School of Social Sciences Vocational College Internship Guidelines, which were approved by the University Senate via Resolution No. 2025/30-01 dated November 19, 2025.
In order for the internship to be evaluated, students must take the Internship Evaluation course offered in the third semester. As a general rule, students who are currently enrolled must complete their internships at the end of their first year.
Students who are about to begin their internship must prepare the following documents:
The documents must first be approved by the Department Internship Committee or the internship advisor, and then submitted to the College Student Affairs Office by the announced deadlines.
Important: The Insurance Request Form must be submitted to the Student Affairs Office no later than 15 days before the start of the internship to ensure that insurance enrollment is processed on time. Students who do not complete these procedures will not be permitted to participate in the internship.
Internship dates are determined according to the internship schedule announced by the Vocational School Board of Directors at the beginning of the spring semester.
A full workday must be at least 8 hours long; the student must adhere to the workplace’s hours of operation. Sundays and official holidays do not count toward the internship period.
The internship must be completed without interruption; in exceptional cases, it may be completed in two parts (15 working days each, at least 120 hours each) with the approval of the Department Internship Committee.
To ensure that insurance premiums are paid on time, the EK-4 Internship Attendance Record must be submitted to the supervising faculty member by the end of each month (within the first week of the following month).
The internship location and dates may not be changed without notifying the committee; if changed, the internship will be deemed invalid. A one-time change of internship site may be permitted with the committee’s approval upon submission of a justified request.
A student who is unable to continue the internship for more than three days due to illness must report the situation to the Department Internship Committee; the duration is extended by the number of days corresponding to the absence to a total of 30 business days (this period may not exceed half of the total internship duration). In the event of a workplace accident, the situation must be reported to the committee and the Director’s Office on the same day by both the workplace supervisor and the student.
A student who is absent for three consecutive days without permission or valid reason, or for a period equal to 10% of the internship duration, will have their internship terminated.
Ek-4, the Internship Attendance Record, and Ek-5, the Workplace Internship Evaluation Form, must be completed and signed by the workplace supervisor and sent to the relevant advisor along with the student in a sealed, stamped or sealed envelope.
Ek-6 The Internship Logbook must be filled out by hand, with at least one page for each workday; it must be signed and stamped by the workplace supervisor.
The internship portfolio must be submitted to the Department Chair (or the faculty member in charge of the course) no later than 15 days after the start of the semester.
The Department Internship Committee meets no later than one month after the start of the semester, reviews the files, and announces the interview dates. The internship file is evaluated as a midterm grade, while the interview is evaluated as a final grade. Students who fail their internship must repeat it.
Provided that it is related to their program of study, students who can document that they have worked for at least 90 business days within the last 5 years—as evidenced by documentation from their employer and Social Security Institution (SGK) records—shall be exempt from the internship requirement upon the recommendation of the Department Internship Committee and approval by the Vocational School Board of Directors. Applications for exemption must be submitted during the exemption period in either the fall or spring semester of the first year of enrollment at the College. The internship performance of exempted students is also evaluated as part of the Internship Evaluation course.
