The Department Advisory Board Held Its Fall Meeting for the 2026-2027 Academic Year

Our Department Advisory Board held its Fall meeting for the 2026-2027 academic year on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 15:00 at the Department Head's office, chaired by Acting Head of Department Lecturer Dr. Fahri Akbaş. The meeting was attended by board members Lecturer Dr. Murat As, Lecturer Dr. Emre Ürün, Lecturer Dr. Yusuf Gökhan Dursun, and Lecturer İbrahim Gökhan Divanoğlu; external stakeholder members Mustafa Özgür Bozkurt (industry professional, Private Security and Protection Program) and Ahmet Kılıç (industry professional, Occupational Health and Safety Program); and student representatives Beyza Özcan and Ayşe Teke.

The meeting addressed the evaluation of the curriculum and course content in light of industry needs, internship and workplace-based vocational training (3+1) practices, graduate employment and tracking, and department-industry cooperation. Our external stakeholders highlighted the practical importance of preparing incident logs and shift reports, utilizing CCTV monitoring and card access systems, and implementing measures regarding personal data protection, risk assessment, emergency planning, İSG-KATİP (OHS Information Management System), and environmental measurements. Our student representatives conveyed student feedback regarding applied courses, scenario-based drills, and internship placement opportunities.

The following decisions were reached by the board:

  • In the Private Security and Protection program, emphasis will be placed—using sample workplace files—on incident reports, shift reports, professional correspondence practices, scenario-based drills, security technologies, and personal data protection; similarly, in the Occupational Health and Safety program, focus will be placed on risk assessment methods, emergency planning, the ISG-KATİP system, and environmental measurement practices,
  • A list of private security companies, public institutions, Occupational Health and Safety Units (OSGBs), and businesses suitable for internships and on-the-job vocational training will be compiled with the support of external stakeholders; internship programs will be planned in collaboration with these workplaces to encompass various tasks and field applications aligned with course content,
  • An information session regarding internships will be held every spring semester, and feedback obtained from workplace evaluation forms will be reviewed annually by the Internship Commission,
  • A graduate contact list will be created and a graduate survey administered; students will be informed about the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), bachelor's degree completion programs, private security officer exams, and ID card procedures; and career talks featuring graduates meeting with current students will be organized,
  • For the 2026-2027 academic year, at least two events—such as seminars, talks, drills, or technical trips—will be organized for each program (with a minimum of one event per program), involving professionals and graduates; these events will be announced on the department's webpage.

The board's recommendations will be submitted to the Department Board, and the next meeting of the Advisory Board will take place in the 2026-2027 Spring Semester. We extend our thanks to our external stakeholders and board members for their contributions.
